About Coach Kendal Yancy

Coach Kendal Yancy is the founder of Yancy Academy and a lifelong student of the game. A former Top 100 player in the nation and Top 10 in the state of Texas during his high school career, Coach Yancy earned a scholarship to play at The University of Texas at Austin (2013–2017), where he competed under elite coaches Rick Barnes and Shaka Smart. While at Texas, he played alongside NBA talents such as Myles Turner and Jarrett Allen, developing a deep understanding of high-level basketball from both a player and strategic standpoint.

After college, Coach Yancy pursued his professional career in the NBA G League, playing for the Austin Spurs alongside Derrick White and under the guidance of San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Mitch Johnson. He was later drafted by the Windy City Bulls, the Chicago Bulls’ G League affiliate.

Coach Yancy also played professionally overseas in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Mexico, gaining international experience and expanding his knowledge of global basketball styles and cultures.

Currently, Coach Yancy serves as a coach at Lake Highlands High School, where he mentors young athletes both on and off the court. Through Yancy Academy, he brings a player-first, development-driven approach to training — focused on unlocking each athlete’s full potential with discipline, IQ, and passion for the game of basketball.
